Voices in Healthcare: The Megaphone

Advances in technology , and more specifically social media, has given every individual a platform to make their voice heard.    This is a beautiful concept: those with a unique point of view, passion, groundbreaking idea, or innovative technology can quickly locate their target audience, gain a following, and implement change.  It’s the analogy of standing on a street corner with a megaphone: thousands of people can easily hear what you are trying to say.  It seems simple, but it would be naïve to assume that it is always this easy.

When everyone has a voice, and when everyone is using the same platform to make his or her voice heard, the environment becomes oversaturated.  When there are ten people on every street corner shouting into their megaphone, messages become fragmented; parts of them resonating through the streets, others drowned out by the amplified voices 5 feet away.  Soon, it becomes difficult to hear anything at all, and messages get lost amid the noise.

With this problem in mind, we will begin a blog series beginning next week entitled Voices in Healthcare: The Megaphone.  With each post, we will highlight an individual or company that is active in the healthcare space and tell their story.  We promise to check sales pitches, advertisements, and self-promotion at the door.  Each piece will focus in on the “what, why, and how” of passionate and innovative people, with the hope of providing a platform that they would not otherwise have.  In the end, we hope to create a medium for thoughtful conversations, meaningful connections, and ultimately positive change.

If you or someone that you know has a unique story to tell regarding anything healthcare, feel free to e-mail us at team@theravid.com, tweet us @teamtheravid, or contact us on Facebook (TheraVid LLC).
